Application of Wireless Power Transmission Led Lighting System in Propagation of Chrysanthemum and Strawberry Planta Daninha
NAM,N.B.; HUY,N.P.; LUAN,V.Q.; TUNG,H.T.; NHUT,D.T..
ABSTRACT Wireless power transmission has been recently used to charge batteries in portable devices. This is the first study to combine this technology with light-emitting diodes (WPT-LP) for plant tissue culture application. We also present the comparison of the in vitro growth of chrysanthemum and strawberry plantlets under the new LED lighting system; LED - Uni-Pack (LP) system; LED tube and fluorescent light (FL). The results showed that fresh weight (1.42 g), dry weight (118.67 mg), plant height (5.68 cm), leaf area (3.59 cm2) and chlorophyll content (47.9 μg g-1) of chrysanthemum plantlets under the WPT-LP system were higher than those under FL and LED tube. Similar results were also recorded on the strawberry plantlets. Our results suggested that...

CO2 assimilation, photosynthetic light response curves, and water relations of 'Pêra' sweet orange plants infected with Xylella fastidiosa Braz. J. Plant Physiol.
Habermann,Gustavo; Machado,Eduardo Caruso; Rodrigues,João Domingos; Medina,Camilo Lázaro.
Plants with citrus variegated chlorosis (CVC), a disease caused by the xylem-limited bacteria Xylella fastidiosa, have leaves with water deficiency symptoms and are associated with decreases on the net photosynthesis and transpiration rates. Using healthy and CVC-affected 'Pêra' sweet orange plants on 'Rangpur' lime rootstock, the leaf gas exchange variables were measured with an open-gas portable photosynthesis system. All plants were watered and the leaf water potential (Yw) was measured by isopiestic thermocouple psychrometric technique. The net photosynthesis (A) vs. internal leaf CO2 concentration (A/Ci curves) was analyzed. The relative effect of stomatal resistance on photosynthesis (S%) and the estimation of carboxylation efficiency were...

Intercepted solar radiation by maize crops subjected to different tillage systems and water availability levels PAB
Bergamaschi,Homero; Dalmago,Genei Antonio; Bergonci,João Ito; Krüger,Cleusa Adriane Menegassi Bianchi; Heckler,Bruna Maria Machado; Comiran,Flavia.
The objective of this work was to evaluate changes in the photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) interception efficiency and PPFD extinction coefficient for maize crop subjected to different soil tillage systems and water availability levels. Crops were subjected to no-tillage and conventional tillage systems combined with full irrigation and non-irrigation treatments. Continuous measurements of transmitted PPFD on the soil surface and incoming PPFD over the canopy were taken throughout the crop cycle. Leaf area index and soil water potential were also measured during the whole period. Considering a mean value over the maize cycle, intercepted PPFD was higher in the conventional tillage than in the no-tillage system. During the initial stages of plants,...

Transpiration, leaf diffusive conductance, and atmospheric water demand relationship in an irrigated acid lime orchard Braz. J. Plant Physiol.
Angelocci,Luiz Roberto; Marin,Fábio Ricardo; Oliveira,Ricardo Ferraz de; Righi,Evandro Zanini.
Leaf vapor diffusive conductance (gl) and transpiration (T) measurements in an irrigated orchard of the acid lime "Tahiti" were carried out in a subtropical climatic condition in the State of São Paulo, Brazil. Measurements were made using steady-state null-balance porometers and were taken throughout the day, on several occasions from February to November, 1998. During September and October, measurements were performed on exposed and shaded young and fully expanded leaves, as well as on old leaves inside the tree canopy. The old leaves showed lower values of gl and T when compared to the other groups. In the other months, measurements were taken only with exposed and shaded fully expanded leaves. The highest values of gl and T were obtained from February...
